Committees

Below is an alphabetical list of our committees, programs and non-fundraising events.

 

Catholic Schools Week: 

Chair(s): 

What:    During this week, we honor students, staff, clergy and the volunteers who have helped us live out our Catholic education on a daily basis.  

Who:  Everyone is invited to celebrate this glorious week. 

When:   Sunday, January 25th thru Friday, January 30th

 

Clergy Appreciation:

Chair(s): 

What:  Clergy Appreciation month is October.  It is a special time to pray and support the clergy of our parish for all the wonderful gifts they bring to us each day. 

Who:  Everyone is invited to participate in giving thanks to our clergy.

When:  October  . . . and all year long!

 

Dress Code Exchange Program:

Chair(s): 

What:
  The Dress Code Exchange Program will promote the existing dress code exchange by setting up a “store” for dress code items before the Home & School meetings and/or other key events.  This person(s) will be responsible for maintaining the neatness of the lockers and monitoring the quality of goods in the exchange program. 
*Even if you do not have dress code items to donate, you are still welcome to the other items!   We gladly accept clean dress code apparel in good condition.

 


Environment Committee:

Staff Liaison:

What:  The Environment Committee is responsible for promoting a welcoming atmosphere for the school by seasonally decorating the school, tending to the existing gardens and creating/maintaining welcoming entrances to the school.  (The committee must seek prior approval from the school principal on all plans prior to the start of a project to ensure continuity with the school mission statement.)

Budget:  Principal to establish a School Budget for this committee.

 

Fall Family Fun Night:

What:  The H & S officers plan a FREE fun and exciting evening full of games and entertainment  for the students and their families to enjoy.  The event  takes place in conjunction with the Fall Scholastic Book Fair. 

When:  Late Fall 

Where:  St. Michael Catholic School

 

Fat Tuesday Family Ice Cream Social:

What:  The H & S officers have planned "The Fat Tuesday Family Ice Cream Social" for  the students and their families to come eat ice cream sundaes and socialize with one another.  We will have games and other fun things for kids to do. 

When: Tuesday before Ash Wednesday

Where:  St. Michael Catholic School Cafeteria   

 

Grandparent's Day:

What:  A special time for Grandparents to visit their grandchildren in school.

When:  September 

 

Mentor Family Program:

Chair(s): Home & School

What:  The Mentor Family Program, in an effort to ease transition into our school, matches new families with existing St. Michael Catholic School families who are familiar with school programs, policies and procedures.  A kick off picnic is provided in early August so the families can meet and have an opportunity to get acquainted.  Mentor families should be in touch with their new families to answer questions regarding the many fundraisers and social events that are offered throughout the year. 

Who:  Any school family may become a Mentor Family.

 

Moms In Touch Program:    

Chair(s):  Jennifer Goins 

What:  Moms in Touch is two or more moms who meet for one hour to pray for their children, their school, their teachers, and their administrators. 

Who:  Moms, Grandmothers, Aunts or anyone who is willing to pray for a specific child and school and believes that prayer makes a difference.


Parade Floats:

Chair(s): 

What:  Create, construct, store and drive the parade float.  Parade walkers, candy and/or a school logo item must be secured as well.  A new float design does not need to be contructed each year. 

Budget:  Candy - Home & School Budget; School Logo Item:  School Marketing Budget;  Float Construction - School Marketing Budget

Who:  Anyone may work on the float.  Everyone is welcome to walk in the parade to show school spirit.

Parent Education Committee:

Staff Liaison: 

What:  The Parent Education Committee brings educational programs to our parent community.   This committee works closely with the staff to develop programs/meetings that meet our mission statement.  Such programs would include "Responsive Classroom", introducing new curriculum, or providing an outside resource/speaker to help parents create better learning environments and study habits.  The possibilities are endless!

 

School Supplies:

Chair(s): 

What:  The chairperson coordinates with an outside vendor to order needed school supplies for those parents who signed up for the service.  The orders are taken in May and the school supply boxes are delivered to the student's classroom prior to Open House Day.  

*This service is NOT a fundraiser for our school  . . . it is a service we offer our school families!  

When:  Orders are taken in May and delivered by Open House Day.

 

Spring Family Fun Night:

What:  The H & S officers planned an evening of fun for the students and their families.  This year, there will be open gym, open swim and pizza! It's Free!!

When:  

Where:  St. Michael Middle School

Sponsored By: STMA/Albertville Women of Today

Bring:  Swimsuits, towels, and basketballs!


Spirit Apparel Program:

St. Michael Catholic School

What:  The St. Michael Catholic School “Spirit Store” will offer a limited group of school logo items.  Such items may include (but NOT limited to):  water bottles, coffee mugs/thermos, active wear logo t-shirts, blankets and canvas bags.

 

Recognition Committee

Budget:  Home & School Budget

What:  The Recognition Committee gives recognition to staff, students or volunteers by providing luncheons, cards, awards, or gifts.  Listed below are a few suggestions, but are not limited to these suggestions: staff birthday cards, seasonal cards, prayers, outstanding volunteer award, staff luncheons (workshop week, conferences, Christmas).
