Preschool Coordinator and Lead Teacher

Description
St. Michael Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and visionary individual with a love for young children to launch our preschool program! Duties of both preschool coordinator and lead teacher will be required of the qualified applicant. The candidate must have a vision for program start-up that upholds the standards and mission of St. Michael Catholic School and meets all expectations of Rule 3.

Education and Training Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education and childcare director’s license preferred.
Must have staff supervision experience and meet qualifications for a teacher according to Rule 3.

Certificates in: CPR and First Aid, Shaken Baby Syndrome and SIDS
Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in early childhood education.

Two years of managerial experience including hiring, supervision, and evaluation. Prefer experience in program planning, start-up, and implementation.

Hours
Primarily mornings 24.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday).
Occasional evenings required for supervision, conferences, and preschool events.
40-42 weeks per year (Mid-August thru Mid-June).
Position begins in March 2012 to allow for planning/hiring. Summer hours will be required this year.

Commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities Include but not Limited to:
• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate Catholic preschool and prekindergarten program including an aftercare program.
• Provide leadership and direction to ensure a safe social, emotional, physical and intellectual environment.
• Hire, schedule and supervise staff.
• Develop teaching staff by modeling, training and conferencing.
• Maintain staff and student records.
• Plan and lead both staff and parent meetings.
• Ensure facilities are clean and safe.
• Select developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Demonstrate proficiency with technology. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Add info to webpage)
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Set program policy and procedure and establish handbook.
• Monitor ongoing compliance standards as school readies to open.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, twist and stand.

Substitute Teachers                                                                             
We are seeking licensed, flexible teachers ready to be on-call on a daily basis for Grades K-7, all subject areas.   Daily sub rate is $110.
